Horseradish is a root that has that same kind of kick, only a little spicier. Horseradish is in the same family as wasabi, but it's not quite as spicy as wasabi. It does have that warm "clear your sinuses" type of spiciness though, not like a pepper-based hot sauce. I also buy prepared horseradish, which is vinegar and horseradish mixed together, and spread it on hummus and cheese sandwiches for a little kick. Horseradish mustard is also yummy.
