MaraNatha Giveaway!

by on October 2, 2009

Since they induced so much drool in my post the other day, I’ve decided to make one person the lucky winner of a set of their own MaraNatha Chocolate Nut Butters!

fraternal twins

I promise to send you jars that haven’t been opened yet, unlike the ones in this picture.

To enter this giveaway,  leave a comment with your favorite soup recipe, or paste me a link to your favorite soup recipe.  Vegetarian or Pescetarian recipes are preferred, but that’s just because I’m being selfish.  If your recipe has chicken or beef (or whatever), don’t be afraid to post!!   I have soup on the brain, and I’ll take it any way I can get it!!

A random winner will be chosen at 5PM on Tuesday, October 6th.  Rumor has it that nobody ever enters my contests, so your chances of winning are fantastic.  If you enter, I suggest that you add me to your feed reader.  There’s nothing worse than someone who never reads, enters a contest, but doesn’t come back to see if they won!  Poor unfortunate souls!

Good luck!

When I make soup I usually don’t follow a recipe. I just bring out my crock pot, use veggie broth, beans or lentils, and any veggies I have that need used up. I sautee the onions, carrots, in a frying pan before adding them to the crock pot. That isn’t much help, but I end up with a different soup each time!

I’m kind of a big fan of Maranatha, so I hope I win. :D

Here’s a link to a much beloved (but admittedly not all that “healthy”) comfort-style soup that I’m always begging my fiance to make: Potato Cheese Soup. We make a number of changes though…. like we use real pepperjack cheese and I believe we do use a bit more cornstarch and we omit the carrots (only because my S.O. doesn’t like them).

ohhhh the drool factor is off the charts here..let’s see I really like some of the soups I make, which are more chunky than creamy. Of course the movers just took my cookbooks…so I”m trying to find a good example. Here is one except I use fresh veggies normally..but I like easy.:
    4 C water
    5 C cabbage (half a small head)
    1 1LB frozen bag carrots,broccoli&cauliflower
1 1LB can peeled tomatoes (chopped)
    1 8OZ can tomato sauce
1 tsp. season salt or to taste

Since I was one of the droolers in your prev post, I am thrilled bout the contest!!!!

Fave soup…gosh girl, I would say a hunk of roasted butternut squash, some cumin & ginger & black pepper, maybe a dash of water or honey/tahini/agave/evoo and whir it in the Vita or blender. And that’s how I roll with soup. 5 secs and a handful of ingredients, no big production :)

I like a simple veggie soup: carrots, celery, green beans, onions, potatoes, corn (beans optional) chopped up and thrown in with a big can of canned tomatoes and chicken broth. adding sliced beef is optional…this is great to freeze and eat at lunch during the winter! It’s super simple.

    My fave soup recipe:

Open can of Amy’s soup (any kind really). Pour into a microwave safe bowl. Heat. Eat with a grilled cheese. Amazing.

    Sorry, I suck.

I really don’t have exact measurements, but this Navy Bean Soup never fails! I’m sure you could also substitute any canned beans for this soup.
Sautee 1 onion, 1 green pepper, 3 cloves of garlic (more or less, if you like) in approx. 2 Tbsp of olive oil until translucent. Add in 2-3 cans of navy/small white beans and vegetable stock (enough to make a good amount of soup). Season to taste with sea salt, fresh cracked pepper, hot sauce, tumeric, chili powder, whatever other spices in your cabinet that might sound good. Simmer for 25-30 minutes until all the flavors meld. Just before serving, smash some of the beans with the back of the spoon to help make the soup a little thicker. Stir and enjoy.
This tastes much better after a day or so. Also, try topping with sliced avocado or greek yogurt.

Ok it’s my FAVE soup of the moment- you don’t need a Vitamix, but it’s nice to have. Nuke (if you are a nuke-er) some butternut squash, a red onion, some garlic, and perhaps a hunk of ginger til the squash is soft. Put into blender, add liquid of choice (water, broth), add spice of choice (I use S&P, and curry). Blend. Eat. Yum!

I like to make this and freeze it. It’s pretty versatile. When I defrost a portion, I serve it over brown rice or stir in some cooked whole wheat pasta.

BTW I tried to submit a “letter to my body” on your site but no matter how few characters I had, it said I exceeded the 1000 character limit- is there an easier way- can you email me your email address?

I like different soups, but one of my favorites is a simple potato soup. Potatoes, onions and milk seasoned with a dap of butter and black pepper.

This is a staple at my house. We serve it with fritos and cheese….mmm. And, we’ve made it with ground turkey and there’s enough extras, you may be able to do a veggie version. Good luck! Let us know which one’s your fav!

My favorite soup recipe and it’s super easy. I peel and dice 4 potatoes and sauté them in a little bit of oil with a little bit of dried oregano. Then add broth and salt and cook until potaotes are done. Serve with Parmesan cheese on top.
