Guest Recipe: Black Girls Run

May 19, 2009

Ashley and Toni from Black Girls Run are breaking through stereotypes in order to better themselves and others. One of my favorite parts about their blog is the recipes! Today, they’ve put together a very special recipe just for Jogger’s Life readers. It’s a good one. I promise.

Pasta, Mushrooms & Spinach…With a Sprinkle of Crack.

May 16, 2009

While wandering around my kitchen, preparing food for Sunday Brunch (look for a post on that tomorrow), I realized that I was starving. I ran 7 miles this morning, and have sort of maintained a sporadic eating schedule today. Starving. Then, like magic, Google Reader told me that I had a new blog post to read from PW Cooks. Then, I read. And drooled. I knew exactly what I wanted for dinner.

Oh, Kitchen! **sigh**

May 16, 2009

In case you missed it the other 2,387 times that I have mentioned, MY KITCHEN IS SMALL. I’m still trying to figure something out. How in the world am I going to fit any more food or appliances on this tiny little piece of counter space?

Oh She Glows Granola Bars: Success!

May 15, 2009

In an effort to help Angela from Oh She Glows figure out the mystery of her crumbly granola bars, I decided to try making them myself. I followed her original recipe , with one exception: I sprinkled them with the magic fairy dust that is my Excalibur Food Dehydrator!

Chocolate Making 101: Hand-Making Truffles

May 5, 2009

I was lucky enough to be able to attend a great event at a local pastry shop this past Sunday after my half marathon: Chocolate Making 101: Hand-Making Truffles. I love making things. I love truffles. It was perfect. I wrangled up a few friends, and we set forth with our plan to learn how to make truffles. You can make these at home, it is SO easy. I promise.

“Raw” Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudgies

May 5, 2009

These little fudge beauties rival the “no bake” cookies that I made as a child, but they are so much healthier. They really are delicious, and the oats get softer and soak up the other flavors as they dehydrate. You will love them. I promise.

Brunch Bunch, I Love You!

April 28, 2009

I don’t know about you, but after my long runs, I am ravenous for like the next 2 days. I try to keep a lid on it and not go too overboard, but when you run 10 miles and burn 1,000 calories, your body just wants (and needs) to eat. I don’t mind obliging. That said, my monthly Sunday Brunch Bunch couldn’t have come at a better time!

Almond Coconut Macaroons: So Good You Might Cry.

April 26, 2009

So, I made up my own macaroon recipe. And, since I refuse to have secrets between us, I am giving it to you. I learned how to share. Me and sharing…we go way back. Don’t be thwarted by the “dehydrator” thing. You can make these in a regular old oven, you just have to set it as low as possible, and you can even leave the door open. It’ll still work. I promise. But start saving your money for a Excalibur. It’s worth it. I promise.

Miso Freekeh!

April 22, 2009

However, I am a healthy eater. And healthy eaters cook (or un-cook). Even when they don’t feel like it. Thankfully, through my organic food travels over the past month-ish, I have acquired quite a few items that would be considered “convenient”, easy to prepare items. Perfect for a weeknight.
