Goggle This

by on March 30, 2010

I put out a very important memo on Twitter last week.

Oh, you didn’t get the memo?

Well, in short, I was announcing the fact that since I can’t swim (but I’m signed up for two triathlons this summer), I enrolled myself in swimming lessons. I signed up for swimming lessons at a swimming school whose name begins with the word “Kid”.

This makes me feel juvenile and incompetent, but I decided to take my swimming lessons at a place where the staff best knows how to deal with people of my kind. You know, the aquatically-challenged.

Those who were born with lead for legs.

Trust me. I’m much more of an anchor than a buoy.

As part of that VIM (very important memo) on Twitter, I took an impromptu poll about which goggles I should purchase for the swimming portion of my training and races. I received back an overwhelming response that Aqua Sphere was the way to go.

I ordered the Aqua Sphere Women’s Kayenne model.

I paid about $486 to have them sent to me via Fedex 2-day, because I was afraid that they wouldn’t arrive in time for my swimming lessons to start on Friday (April 2nd–it’s also MY BIRTHDAY)! Needless to say, I wasted $15 of my hard-earned money, because REI shipped them as fast as lightening. They arrived within a day of ordering.

Lesson learned.

So, I don’t have a bike yet

But I got goggles!

And I don’t know how to use them.

But I think they’re wicked cute.
